A contemporary residential project centred around large-format flagstone paving, used to define the entrance pathway, pool area and outdoor living spaces in a cohesive, modern layout.

The design focuses on simplicity and precision, using a restrained palette of flamed granite flagstone in Dove Grey and Charcoal colours to complement the home’s clean architectural lines. From the pool surround to the entertainment area and stepping stone pathways, each space is connected through consistent material use and considered spacing.

POOL & PATIO FLAGSTONE PAVING

The pool area is defined by large-format flagstone paving, laid with clean spacing to create a structured yet open feel.

The use of larger slabs reduces visual clutter and allows the space to feel expansive, while the tonal variation between Dove Grey and Charcoal introduces subtle contrast. This creates a calm, functional environment that aligns with the home’s modern aesthetic.

ENTERTAINMENT AREA & BUILT-IN SEATING

Adjacent to the pool, the outdoor entertainment space is designed as an extension of the home.

Flagstone paving continues through this area, integrating seamlessly with the built-in seating and firepit feature. The consistent material palette ensures the space feels unified, while the combination of hard surfaces and soft furnishings adds balance and usability.

STEPPING STONE PATHWAYS

The entrance and garden pathways are formed using spaced flagstone slabs set within gravel, creating a lighter, more informal transition between spaces.

This approach maintains the architectural language of the project while softening movement between space, allowing the landscaping to play a more active role in the overall experience.

DESIGN & ARCHITECTURAL NOTES

This project reflects a clear focus on proportion, spacing, and material consistency.

Rather than layering multiple finishes, the design relies on a single paving language applied in different ways – from structured pool surrounds to more relaxed pathways. The result is a space that feels cohesive and intentional, with each element resolved in relation to the next.
